Ada studied art at Wellington N.Z. Technical Art College where she later taught. She studied at the LCC Central School of Art London and visited European galleries. She married Clifford Abbott whose flute concerto was performed by James Galway with Lou Fremaux and the S.S.O in the Opera House.
With her husband she imported European reproductions from Parisian art editeurs Ferdinand Hazan and Daniel Jacomet.
Her range of cards of Sydney scenes sold in thousands and her reproductions of Greek and Italian scenes have been most popular.
She has painted and exhibited regularly over the years while also designing for Sheridans, National Trust and Industry. In 1998 along with Paul Delprat director of Julian Ashton Art School she judged the Cowra Arts Council Exhibition and has opened many local art shows.
She has travelled regularly to Morocco, Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Turkey, Greece, Botswana and England and is fascinated by the contrast of untouched wild areas of Australia and sitting in the Greek Vineyard hearing nearby church bells, the donkey s grazing and a group of olive pickers indulging in a mid morning break for bread and wine.
As to her aims in art she prefers to let her paintings talk for her but she emphasises that colour is very important to her in expressing strength, hope and life through her landscapes.
Ada has run her own art gallery in the heritage village of Millthorpe since 1994, selling her painting and her pottery
